Ande's been stripping

our motorhome down to the chassis.  It's been a long process with several late nights and hard work involved, but he's pretty much got it down to where we need it to be.  Here's a few pics...

So, that's where we're at right now.  Just so you know how much I love my readers, I did NOT post the picture of Ande cleaning out the black water (sewage) tank.  Turns out the previous owners didn't empty it before selling it to us, and Ande didn't discover that little tidbit of info until he was ready to remove the tank.  Yeah, it was pretty gross.

As I mentioned before, we found a floor plan we liked, and had the opportunity to go check out the motorhome we are going to be modeling ours after.  It's pretty cool.  Here's a drawing of the floor plan:

We'll have to make a few adjustments to the design for the simple fact that we need more seat belts than this design has, but this is pretty much going to be it.

Oh, and all of this work has been done in our driveway and back yard.  Our neighbors must LOVE us.  LOL

And we're back....

Wow, I can't believe how fast the last several days have gone! I've been trying to limit my computer time, and I usually choose to use my alloted time to check blogs instead of write in mine.

So, a few updates:

My aunt Kathy is still in the hospital, but slowly improving.

My sister-in-law's sister is still with her parents and seems to be doing better all the time.

My MIL is in OK visiting my BIL and his family.

I'm recovering from a UTI, but feeling better since Ande forced me to go to the clinic on Friday night (we don't have health insurance, so all I could see were $$$ floating out of our already limited account) Hooray for free antibiotics from Meijers! (With a prescription, of course)

The motorhome has had a little more demolition done to it, but between the weather and other obligations, we haven't done much work to it this week. I've got the fabric and the zippers for the cushions, I just need to make my patterns. I'm holding off because we might be changing the seating configurations, and I don't want to make covers for cushions we might not use. Well, that, and have YOU ever tried to make a pattern on your kitchen floor with a 2 year old and a 1 year old in the house? Yeah, not an easy task.

We're on "spring break" here, but it's about 37 degrees here (but feels like 24 with the wind) and it's been spitting snow on and off all day. The kids are less than thrilled.

The Jib ALMOST walked the other night. She was standing at the coffee table, and she let go. She started to take a step towards me, then realized she wasn't holding on to anything and grabbed the table again. Oh well - she makes up for her lack of walking with her complete mastery of climbing. Given the right set of circumstances, she can climb into her highchair all by herself. Who needs to walk when you're Spiderbaby?

Got the kids' registration for summer camp (UPBC) taken care of this weekend. They're pretty excited.

Found out Nans' mom is planning on moving as soon as school gets out. Still wondering what we are going to do on Ande's weekends - doesn't seem quite right that he should have to spend a total of at least 6 hours of his time driving to pick her up/drop her off each time she comes to visit.

Haven't really had any terribly funny or exciting stuff happen in the last several days, so sorry if this post was boring. I'll try to make it more exciting next time!! Hope all is going well for the rest of you in blogland!!

This is how we roll...

Yep, that's right. We are officialy REDNECKS the proud owners of a new mini-motorhome. This 1978 beauty has all of the amenities - bathroom, refrigerator, stove, sink... It is very economical, too. It gets 3 gallons/mile. HA HA!! We haven't actually figured out what kind of mileage it gets. I'm sure it's NOT good, though.

Ande and I bought this gem from a guy he used to do a Bible Study with. We picked it up last weekend, and have (as you can see) already started the "remodel". As you can see by the pictures, the decor is a little, uh, lacking. I think you'd call it "Nascar Chic" (I call it U~G~L~Y)

After a little cleanup/removal of curtains & cushions

I have already picked out the fabric for the cushions (I'll post pics of that later), and we went looking last night to find the most suitable ceiling/wall material. I think we've pretty much settled on 1/4" birch plywood (which we will probably stain). We've got some linoleum in our garage that I think we're going to use for the floor. I'm excited about it, because I can already visualize what it COULD look like. Fortunately I know how to sew, and Ande is pretty good with woodworking, so between the two of us it should turn out pretty nice. We will be leaving the exterior alone, keeping with the "Early American White Trash" look.

It's got a tiny bathroom, as you can see. As it is, you can shave, shower, and sit on the potty all at the same time! Ande is trying to talk me into making the bathroom bigger, so that it actually has a shower that doesn't have a toilet in the middle of it...

Make sure to light a match when you're done....

I seriously have to wonder what on earth the previous owners were thinking - we found bright green, pink, and purple paint throughout the camper (although the people we bought it from painted over everything with white paint). And do you think anyone could TAPE OFF THE STUFF YOU WOULDN'T WANT PAINT ON? Apparently not.

What is with the floor tile stuck on the front of this perfectly nice stainless steel stove/oven?

You might be wondering why we would buy a motorhome - well, we're really hoping to help Ande's amp business grow by traveling to different amp shows whenever we can, and rather than buying a trailer to hitch to the back of his car or my van to haul his amps, it really made more sense to us to buy a motorhome, so that we can also eat/sleep in it, and have plenty of room for the amps as well.
