Tuesday Tip O' The Day

When life gives you lemons, make orange juice.

Because there aren't nearly enough time-wasters out there (read with sarcasm)...check out www.failblog.org. I have been laughing SO hard today at some of the stuff on there. (You can even choose to view only the "G" rated pics & videos, so that you don't see any offensive material)

Wunnerful, Wunnerful

So, we went to Ande's uncle's church this morning, and the first song that the choir did sorta reminded me of The Lawrence Welk Show. I'm just glad it wasn't quite like this act. (There' a commercial at the beginning of the clip, but stay tuned, it's worth it!!):

Is Sissys' room sick, Mama?

Yes, this is the question that Puckey asked the other day when I took the following picture.
I told her, "Yes, Sissys' room IS sick, I think maybe it threw up!"

You might wonder why on earth I would be taking pictures of Bug & Nans' room. Well, the EXTREME ROOM MAKEOVER has finally begun! After weeks of waiting for the girls to get in gear and clean their room so I could paint it, I gave up and cleaned it myself. It's amazing how big the room is without all of their CRAP stuff in it.
So the first thing I needed to do was a little spackling...okay, a LOT of spackling. I think the boys who once inhabited this room must have had SOMETHING hanging on just about every available inch of wall space.
Next comes the primer.

Okay, now here's the main color, "Honey Flower".
And finally, the accent color, "Antigua Sunset".
Looks pretty good, if I do say so myself! My next step is cleaning the carpet. I'd just hire someone to do it, but A) It costs WAY too much, and B) I'd rather do it a room at a time when I can get all of the furniture out before cleaning the carpet, so the WHOLE ROOM gets cleaned.

I can't wait to get all the the girls' furniture back in place, and don't worry, I'll post pictures of the "finished product" when I get that far!

Oh Boy!! Another Contest!!

Michelle, at My Semblance of Sanity, is hosting another contest. The prize is a lovely bracelet - you can see a picture of it (and Michelle's Gabbin Mama Thursday post) by clicking HERE.

The rules are simple:

  • Find a funny photo (of yourself, your dog, the baby....whatever)
  • Post it, along with a caption that will make the picture even MORE funny
  • Add a link to Michelle's blog
  • Post a comment in Michelle's comment section HERE
  • Next week we will get a chance to vote on the best pictures, out of a top 5 of Michelle's choosing.

Very simple, right?? So get out your old photo albums, the discs you have pictures stored on, or search your hard drive for just the right picture. It only took me about half a second to think of the picture I want to use for the contest.

READY?

WHAT? CHRISTMAS party? Man, we thought you said COSTUME party!

(Pictured from left to right: Julie, Ande, Grandma, Ben, Paul, Uncle Rich, and Jordan)

And yes, that was the family Christmas party, 2003. What a fun bunch of people!!

I've been tagged...

This is a new one, from my girl Michelle over at My Semblance of Sanity. I've never seen one like this before, so this should be fun. Now we'll get to see what kinds of books you all have lying close by. Here's what I have to do...

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages.)

2. Open the book to page 123.

3. Find the fifth sentence.

4. Post the next three sentences.

5. Link back to the person who tagged you.

6. Tag five people.

Sounds easy enough...let's see what we've got...

A Party in the Jungle...cute, sparkly, but not 123 (or more) pages long.

Mmm....Cashew Chicken Takeout recipe..."It's What's for Dinner"

The instruction book for an infrared heater we don't even have...note to self, "Give book back to Al."

Puckey's pop-up dinosaur book. Grammy got that for her for Christmas, because she was going through her "I'm not a "_______", I'm a dinosaur!" phase. Cute book, but alas, also not 123 pages long. Shoot, I'm beginning to wonder if we even have any grown up books in this house...

Ah-HA! Here's a book! It's "A Light in the Window" by Jan Karon. Ande's aunt loaned me the first three books in this series (about Mitford) and I really liked them.

Okay, so page 123, 6th, 7th, & 8th sentences...

"So I got 'er this book so she can git t' know 'em and like 'em."

"Good thinking, pal."

They drew closer to the brightness of the fire.

Wow, it looks funny reading those sentences out of context. No one would ever even have a CLUE about what this book is about by reading that. How funny.

So, now I have to tag 5 people. This could be a challenge, since I may have already used up my "taggable friends" with the last time I got tagged...

Here's my list:

Amanda (You knew it was coming, right?!?! LOL)

Devin (Because my baby could beat up your baby...ha ha ha)

Jenny (Because you seem to be a good sport)

Susie (Because you have an interesting life)

Shelly (Because you have a great sense of humor)

So, I hope you all respond, because it's fun to see what other people are (or aren't) reading....

Now Playing: "The Wizard of Oz"

I'm not too sure what happened here, but after a brief moment of panic because she wasn't IN her bed, this is how I found Puckey this morning at 6:30am.
