For Tricia

I was on Nate's blog a couple of days ago, and he requested that we Mama's out there make a list for Tricia. The list idea was inspired by THIS post. It's funny how we often get busy with life and forget that when we have children, sometimes EVERY SINGLE DAY can hold a "first". We should treasure them all....here's just a few that I treasure:

  • Struggling to get the baby in the carseat for the first time, then being a nervous wreck on the way home from the hospital because "no one knows how to drive anymore!"
  • Her first "real" bath.
  • Looking over at night, watching her breathe.
  • Seeing her first tooth FINALLY poking through her gums.
  • Watching her try new foods.
  • Hearing her say "Mama" or "Daddy".
  • Hearing her say, "I love you".
  • Brushing her hair.
  • Kissing boo-boos.
  • The sound of little feet padding down the hallway.
  • Heartfelt hugs and slobbery kisses.
  • Comforting a broken heart.
  • Being comforted when your heart is broken.
  • Hearing her sing songs she learned at church.
  • Reading the same books so many times that you no longer need the books anymore, you can just recite the words from memory.
  • Watching her stare in wonder at Christmas lights (and snow, if you're fortunate enough to live somewhere that gets it).
  • Snuggling.
  • Seeing her light up when Mommy/Daddy enters the room.
  • Planning her wedding (it's NEVER to early to start, and since she's your daughter, YOU get to pay for it...better start saving now).

Well, those are a few of my favorites....I could go on and on, but sooner or later, you'll lose interest.

All I can say is "hooray!!"

Check out Nate's blog for the newest update...Please also pray this morning for a boy named Daniel. He's having surgery this morning and if it works, it could help change his life.

I posted a fun and informative post last night, you can check that out below...

Updates

My brother in law updated Ande's website today, check it out here. (Thanks, Tim, it looks really good!) I talked to Ande tonight, and he said the NAMM show is HUGE. He said he saw some famous people, but he didn't really want to go through the list. When I spoke with him, he was sitting in a pretty ritzy hotel. I'm pretty sure he said it was the Grand Californian. Yeah, he's NOT staying there, although I'm sure he probably wouldn't mind it. He had to go there because his friend Ron had to get his pass to the NAMM show from another guy, Mark from Analysis Plus. Mark is from our area as well, and is the one who gave Ande his pass to the NAMM show as well. He's a pretty cool guy, from what I've seen/heard.

Wouldn't you know that yesterday, because Ande took our camera to CA with him, that The Jib was just being hilariously funny? She managed to pull down the dishwasher door, after which she promptly climbed up and sat on it, looking happy as a clam. Of course, since I had no camera, I could take no picture. Ugh. (It didn't dawn on me until later that both of our older girls have digital cameras, and I really could have taken a picture.) Of course, not to be outdone on the cuteness factor, Puckey wanted to "snuggle in mama's bed" last night. If you've read some of my other posts, you've probably seen the pictures. Who could resist her little dark chocolate eyes and sweet little smile? Not me. So she snuggled mama right to the edge of our king sized bed. I was balancing on about 8 inches of mattress, when there was a good 3-4 FEET of mattress on the other side of her. When I got up this morning, I would have taken a picture of where she was in relation to the size of the bed, but this was before I remembered that the girls had cameras. Oh well - the week isn't up yet, and I have a feeling that she will want to snuggle again at least one more night this week!!!

For those of you who haven't, please check out Confessions of a CF Husband and see what's new. Nate posted some more pictures of baby Gwyneth, and she is SO sweet! She reminds me of a little baby monkey (which is a GOOD thing - until Puckey could talk, we called HER monkey because she was all long limbed, skinny, and hairy when she was born! Poor girl even had hairy ears! Of course, when she started talking, she informed us that she was Puckey, NOT monkey. Now she's a dinosaur.) Please continue to pray for strength and healing for this family, as they still have a LOOOONG road ahead.

Okay, it's about 2 hours past the time I had decided I was going to get to bed tonight, so I'm going to go now.

Daddy's flying in a shark to California

For whatever reason, whenever Puckey sees a plane in the sky (or a picture of a plane), she calls it a shark. Now, she knows what a real shark looks like, and calls them sharks as well. Maybe it's the wings on the plane?!?
Yeah, I guess I can see it....

So this morning, I had to wake her and The Jib up so we could take Daddy to the airport, because he has to fly to California for the NAMM show. She got all excited when I told her Daddy was going to fly in a shark today. As a matter of fact, as I type this, he and his friend Ron are probably sitting on the plane waiting to take off. When we got home from dropping Daddy off at the airport, there just happened to be a plane flying over our house - I told Puckey, "Look, there's a shark like Daddy is going to fly to California in!" She got a big grin and said, "Do you see it, Mamma? Do you see it?"

Before Ande went into the airport, I reminded him to bring me back some cool SWAG (stuff we all get) from the NAMM show. We'll see how he does!! He also took our camera, so maybe he'll get to take some pictures of famous people?!? (That's part of the reason why the NAMM show isn't open to the public....because they want musicians to be able to go there without being hassled by fans) I'm just praying that he will be able to drum up some interest in his amps, maybe even come home with some orders!! That would be awesome! I'll keep you updated on that.

It's going to be a strange week here without Daddy, but hopefully we'll do alright. I think the girls will miss him a lot, though. Especially Puckey. She's pretty much a Daddy's Girl.

If you haven't yet, please go to Confessions of a CF Husband and read about the amazing work God is doing through this family. I believe that God can use any circumstance to help us grow, learn, and move closer to Him as long as we let Him into our hearts to do so! Prayers for this family are going continually, and I know for myself at least, I have felt led to pray more often and more openly because of the faithfulness Nate has even through all of the trials he is facing right now. Who am I to complain because money's tight or the kids are grouchy, or I didn't get as much sleep last night as I would have liked? For what God has provided for me and my family, I should be on my knees praying and worshipping continually! Fortunately God doesn't require us to pray only if we're on our knees, or only at church, or only if we are dressed a certain way...we can pray anytime, anywhere! Not to say that we shouldn't take time daily to be quiet and pray and be alone with the Lord, because that is important too. But if you're in the grocery store and someone comes to mind - pray for them! You don't have to go through the Old Testament and use a bunch of "thees" and '"thous", you can just pray. How cool is that?

Anyhoo...visit Nate's blog at the link above (it's also listed in my favorite blog list), and remember his family in prayer. If you're on Facebook, I know that there is a page dedicated to the Lawrenson family there as well. Click this link to get there.
